Introduction to HIDEWORKS
Alan has been working with, and restoring leather interiors for the last 17 years.
Working with specialised coatings to preserve, protect and in some cases colour change leather. He has applied his expertise to preserving car interiors sofas, hand bags and anything that is made of faced in leather hide. Alan has exceptional ability in replicating patinas on vintage leather and excating the right colours for modern interiors, this he puts down to his time as a french polisher.
“correct colour is everything. Nothing highlights a repair more than the wrong colour.”
There are quite a few sayings and mantras that are impressed on the team but this epotimises his ethos the most. Archie is in charge of matters to do with FAQ and making sure our cusomers are receiving correct after care and self help tutorials regarding care for their leather
Archie himself is an accomplished leather technician and has inherited an over particular sense of detail to his work on the point of OCD.
This talent combined with a thirst for excellence and dedicated approach to detail has awarded Hideworks with work such as restoring the benches in the Houses of Commons, Guards Polo club in the Royal grounds of Windsor Great Park. Restoring Patinas for Jonathan Wood Vintage and Thoroughbred Restorations and doing a behind the scenes leather repair to Jeremy Clarksons Ford GT 40 whilst stabled at the Rauch. ( luckily for them the repair was invisible ) as he knew nothing of the gouge to his drivers seat bolster.
