Guards Polo Club

Working in these surroundings is a privilege and a pleasure especially when the weather on this occasion was as good as it gets.
Hideworks was commissioned to condition, revive the colours and recreate the patina that was lost due to prolonged exposure of sunlight in their glorious lounge area.

This was a multi stage process, the first being to clean with a solvent base product to lift any grease without doing harm to existing aniline dyes. Next process to stabilise the dyes and condition the leather. Condition at this stage of the process enhances the colours that are still present and will also limit the bleeding effect when new dyes are added later on.

We left it overnight and and resumed applying the relevent aniline dyes to the chairs in the morning. The next stage was to spray colour protective coating over the all the surfaces. Whilst doing this process we would regularly take some sand paper or a wet rag to create the wear and patinas that should exist on these classic chairs.

Once we and the client were satisfied that the look of the chairs was correct, we then began to seal and wax seal the leather. The wax creates a mellow look and feel to the hide also adds another form of protection. We Managed to restore all the furniture onsite over the course of 5 days this was facilitated by Hideworks by staying in a nearby hotel. By doing this we optimise our efforts to getting the best results for the client and in the time frame agreed.
